GILGIT: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President Maryam Nawaz told the public gathering in Gilgit-Baltistan to send the lotas (turncoats) and selectors home.
She is campaigning in GB ahead of the November 15 election, despite the GB High Court giving all ministers and politicians 72 hours to leave the region on November 6.
Maryam also criticized lotas (turncoats), particularly a former PML-N minister who had joined the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI), saying that those who stand with you in good times but crumble under pressure were not worthy of votes.
“Do you know what our slogan of ‘vote ko izzat do’ means? It means we won’t let our votes be stolen,” she said, urging people to vote on Election Day.
“We need a new tradition here, let’s start a tradition of sending lotas home. No one can sell your votes. PML-N’s other name was the safeguarders of the GB people,” she added.
Urging the region’s people for a final push against the Imran Khan-led government, Maryam said that the days of ‘fake’ government were numbered. “Cast your ballot against the government and send it packing,” she added.
“I have heard that families who are not getting proper claims against their lands came under the Diamir Bashir Dam, a PML-N government will provide you your due rights,” Maryam assured the affectees.
Maryam listed a number of development projects undertaken and completed during her father Nawaz Sharif’s tenure, such as the airport, and sports complex. “Vote for PML-N if you want to see development in GB,” she urged.
She also promised to ensure fair compensation for the families displaced due to the construction of the Diamer Bhasha Dam. Maryam also alleged that rigging was occuring in the region ahead of the election but said when the lion stands up, all the birds flee.
