KARACHI: Officers of the Sindh Building Control Authority have been involved in the corruption of illegal construction of buildings in Sindh’s capital.
According to the details, few accused officers take bribe from the people staying in illegally constructed buildings.
These officers do not take actions when the building is vacant but as soon as the citizen start staying in the buildings these officers ask for a bribe and if no one pays the officers, these officers threatened them that the building will be demolished.
The accused, Director Ali Mehdi demands bribe for illegal construction on RW 58, 59 and 59/1, as a result, the office in Naziabad Kausar Niazi Colony was evacuated last night as no bribe was given to the officers.
Director Ali Mehdi has been involved in directing the illegal building constructer Hashmani to work faster and build more illegal buildings so they can continue to plunder the victims.
Hanif’s assistant, the owner of the illegally built Kausar Niazi Colony building, was arrested by the police. Upon receiving information, Chairman Municipality of Central Rehan Hashmi, police, Rangers, Municipal representatives, and fire brigade personnel arrived.
Their illegal construction has resulted in a 4-storey building that may collapse at any time due to tilt. Fire brigade, rescue unit, and city wardens teams reached the affected building. Vice-Chairman Syed Shakir Ali and UC22 chairman Nadeem Hidayat Hashmi are present at the affected building.
