Pakistani fast bowler Salman Mirza has reacted to a news report aired by a local channel, announcing that he will take legal action against the journalist responsible.
The report, broadcast by ARY News, claimed that a left-arm pacer had been fined for allegedly harassing a woman at a hotel in Sri Lanka. It further said that the team management had reviewed the incident and imposed a penalty on the player for violating the code of conduct.
However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) immediately dismissed the report, labeling it unverified and misleading. The board criticized the broadcast as malicious and irresponsible journalism and reserved the right to take action against those responsible.
Agenda driven fake news targeting the character of our players is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. The reporter must publicly apologize without delay; failing which, the PCB will take all necessary steps to ensure such malicious conduct is dealt with firmly and nipped in…

Following the PCB’s statement, Salman Mirza also issued a post on social media, strongly denying the allegations.
He condemned the spread of unfounded news and criticized what he described as “cheap journalism,” saying that no media house should air unverified reports.

Mirza added that the PCB had already declared the report false and baseless, and he confirmed that he would pursue legal action regarding the matter.
He also appealed to the Government of Pakistan to take strict measures against those spreading misinformation.
