The Prime Minister has approved the weekly determination of petroleum product prices in light of the region’s changing situation.
A meeting of the Petroleum Products Stock and Consumption Committee was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, during which the Finance Minister briefed the Prime Minister.
According to local media reports, the committee presented recommendations regarding the weekly pricing of petroleum products, which the Prime Minister approved.
Reports added that the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) will provide recommendations on the weekly petroleum prices. After ECC approval, the final summary regarding petroleum product prices will be presented to the federal cabinet. The Prime Minister also instructed that a proposal for virtual education in schools and work-from-home plans for offices be presented on Monday.
The Prime Minister directed the Finance Minister to submit the work-from-home proposal after consultation with the provinces.
According to reports, these measures are expected to ensure efficient utilization of fuel stocks and help reduce demand.
Meanwhile, the meeting’s official statement has been issued, in which the Ministry of Petroleum briefed that the country has adequate reserves of petroleum products to meet domestic requirements.
