KARACHI: The extent of rising lawlessness in the Metropolis can be judged from the fact that five innocent citizens including a woman have lost their lives during the 11 days of the new year of 2023. The number of street crimes, snatchings, loot and plunder, and home robberies and burglaries are much more than the ones reported in media.

According to details made available with MM News, the first murder took place on January 2 in Awami Colony when a citizen named Shahid was killed. The second murder took place on January 5 in which a woman named Sana Tariq was killed in the locality of Johar Chowrangi.

In the jurisdiction of Sachal police station, the third murder took place when a young man named Abdul Razzaq was killed on January 9. The fourth murder took place on January 10 near New Sabzi Mandi area when a person identified as Noor Rahman was killed.
Another person identified as Salman was killed at three o’clock in the night on January 11 inside his house in Sarjani Yaro Goth area when he tried to resist the robbery attempt.

It has been learnt that four out of these five murders took place during the course of street crimes, while the fifth murder took place during a robbery inside home.
