An 84-inch water supply pipeline near the University of Karachi has ruptured once again, resulting in extensive flooding across a large portion of the surrounding residential area. The incident has disrupted water supply to multiple neighborhoods throughout the city.
According to reports, the staff colony adjacent to the university is at risk of severe inundation, with water already entering several homes. In response, the university administration has initiated evacuation procedures to ensure residents’ safety.
This major pipeline is a critical component of Karachi’s water distribution system, supplying water to several key localities. Following the rupture, Chief Executive Officer of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KWSC), Ahmed Ali Siddiqui, directed immediate repair efforts.
A KWSC spokesperson confirmed that water pressure has been reduced to enable safe and effective repairs, which are set to begin without delay and will continue on a 24-hour basis.
Notably, the same pipeline was previously repaired under the supervision of the Chief Engineer WTM prior to Ramadan.
