MUMBAI: Bollywood actress and entertainer Rakhi Sawant has spoken candidly about her life, showbiz journey, religion, politics and personal experiences in an exclusive interview with British broadcaster BBC Hindi.
In the wide-ranging interview, Sawant described herself as India’s first content creator. She said when she adopted a unique and unconventional style at the start of her career, people considered her crazy, but today the same people follow her.
“I consider myself my favourite person. I am a walking content,” she said, adding that as an artist she always has to be ready for new styles and changes.
Sawant, who has previously dabbled in politics, criticized the entry of artists into politics, saying that if someone becomes a public representative, they must fulfill their responsibilities.
Referring to her former political outfit, the Rashtriya Aam Party, which she had earlier referred to as her ‘Mirchi Party’, Sawant said she no longer wants to talk about politics. She claimed she was made a scapegoat in the past.

On Marriage and Personal Life:
Opening up about her personal life, the actress said she has been through marriage, divorce and numerous difficulties. She expressed gratitude to the Bollywood industry, stating that big artists have always accepted and loved her despite the controversies.
Reflecting on her journey, she said she has seen poverty and endured hardships, but has now carved a distinct identity for herself in the world of fashion and entertainment.
On Religion:
Speaking on religion, Sawant said she was born into a Hindu family and her mother later converted to Christianity. She herself converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim man and adopted the name Fatima.
She said she studies both the Quran and the Bible and believes in all prophets. “I pray, I have performed Umrah and I believe in Allah,” she said, adding that she does not need to answer to anyone about her faith and that everyone has the right to adopt the religion of their choice.
On Pakistan and Life in Dubai:
Talking about Pakistanis, Sawant said she has received a lot of love from Pakistanis in Dubai. She noted that although relations between India and Pakistan are complicated, Pakistanis have helped her during difficult times.
Regarding her current activities in Dubai, Sawant said she works through TikTok Live and claimed that she earns five to ten thousand dirhams or dollars daily through the platform.
