LAHORE: As many as seven more patients of coronavirus died overnight in Punjab lifting the death toll to 4,568 and 607 new cases, taking the provincial tally to 154,017.
According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, The number of people recovering from the infection in the province stands at 138,894. the latest update released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) today, a total of 1,629 new cases emerged after 36,607 samples were tested across the country in the last 24 hours.
The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has soared to 534,041 with the addition of the fresh infections while the countrywide death toll jumped to 11,318. The NCOC said the positivity ratio of infections was recorded at 4.44 percent.
The highest number of deaths due to coronavirus was in Punjab where 4,568 people lost their lives while 3,892 in Sindh, 1,839 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 468 in Islamabad, 102 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 193 in Balochistan, and 256 in Azad Kashmir. They have lost their lives.
According to the National Command and Operations Center, the rate of positive cases of coronavirus in Karachi is 10.68 percent. The overall positive case rate in Islamabad is 1.18 percent, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 5.25 percent, Punjab 5.97 percent, and Sindh overall 10.23 percent.

In Azad Kashmir, the positive cases of coronavirus are 5.97 percent, in Balochistan 3.52 percent, and in Gilgit-Baltistan 0.56 percent. The novel COVID-19 was first detected in December 2019 in China before being detected in other countries.
