In a bid to alleviate the financial strain on the public during the sacred month of Ramadan, the Punjab government and Poultry Association have come to an accord to slash chicken prices.
The reduction will be palpable in both open markets, where prices will drop by Rs 10 per kilogram, and in Model Bazaars, where the discount will be even more substantial at Rs 25 per kilogram. This adjustment will take effect immediately.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif made an impromptu visit to Johar Town’s Model Bazaar upon her return from official duties.
During her inspection, she meticulously scrutinized the prices of various goods, including fruits, vegetables, and groceries. Engaging with female shoppers, she empathetically sought out their experiences and concerns, demonstrating a sincere commitment to the welfare of citizens.
Recognizing the hardships endured during Ramadan, the Chief Minister reiterated her dedication to meeting the needs of the underprivileged. She attentively listened to the grievances of elderly customers, particularly regarding the sudden inflation in prices of essential fruits needed for traditional Ramadan dishes.
As word of her presence spread, a sizable crowd gathered at the Ramadan Bazaar, expressing solidarity and admiration through chants and slogans. Chief Secretary Zahid Zaman Akhtar also accompanied her during the visit, emphasizing the government’s resolve to address the concerns of its citizens at the grassroots level.
