LAHORE: The Punjab Examination Commission (PEC) has announced the schedule for examinations to be held across schools in the province.
According to a notification by PEC, the exams will be held from May 18 to 31 for students of grades I-VIII. Moreover, a booklet containing questions will be issued by the commission that will feature in students’ examinations.
According to the PEC, 50% weightage in the exams will be for homework and 50% weightage will be for MCQ-based papers. Meanwhile, oral exams will be taken for students for grades I & II (English, Maths, General Knowledge and Urdu).
Students of Grade III to VIII will give written examinations of all core subjects (English, Maths, Science, Urdu, Computer Science, History & Geography and Islamiyat/Ethics). Result cards will be issued by schools before June 10, stated the PEC.
The provincial department earlier stated that the board examinations for SSC and HSSC students will be held in May and June. It said that the Accelerated Learning Programme (ALP) communicated earlier shall continue to be followed by the Public Schools.
Assessment criteria and Examinations schedule for 5th and 8th grade shall be communicated separately by the Punjab Examination Commission, further in the notification.
The department reminded all schools to ensure strict implementations of SOPs that have been communicated over time by the Primary & Secondary Healthcare Department and School Education Department, Punjab. “School timing shall be observed as per previous practice in the winter season,” read the notification.
