The Punjab government has achieved a historic milestone by generating over Rs710 billion in tax revenue through the e-Pay Punjab initiative since its inception in October 2019.
E-Pay Punjab is a digital tax payment platform created by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) in partnership with the Punjab Finance Department.
To date, this digital solution has enabled more than 78 million online transactions. This information was shared during a progress review meeting led by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf.
During the meeting, attendees were informed that citizens can easily pay 87 different taxes across 18 government departments from the comfort of their homes using e-Pay Punjab. Notably, over 5.3 million individuals have downloaded the e-Pay Punjab application.
In his remarks, Faisal Yousaf highlighted that the platform has greatly diminished the necessity for in-person visits to government offices and has eradicated the role of intermediaries, thereby promoting transparency and simplifying the payment process. He also mentioned that new services are being integrated into the system to further enhance user convenience and optimize the digital payment experience.
