PTI leader Dr. Shahid Siddique’s son arrested in connection with his murder case

In a dramatic turn of events, Lahore police have arrested Qayyum Shahid, the son of PTI leader Dr. Shahid Siddique, in connection with his father’s murder. The arrest occurred on Monday, following a detailed investigation by the Organized Crime Unit (OCU).

According to police sources, Qayyum is suspected of orchestrating his father’s murder through hired assassins. Dr. Siddique, who was also the owner of Iqra Hospital, was killed last Friday outside a mosque in Valencia Town. The shooter targeted him as he was about to enter his car, with Qayyum reportedly present near the crime scene.

Dr. Siddique’s other son, Taimur Shahid, had initially lodged the murder case. On August 2, Dr. Siddique was shot by unidentified gunmen riding a motorcycle, who fired four bullets at him after he had completed Friday prayers.

Further investigations have uncovered startling details. Police revealed that Qayyum, with the help of a close friend, had previously attempted to murder his father in January, paying Rs5 million for the initial attack. Following the failure of this attempt, Qayyum allegedly arranged for the final murder, reportedly paying Rs 20 million.

Police reports indicate that Qayyum was in an Alto car, trailing Dr. Siddique since 9:50 am on the day of the murder. Surveillance footage has captured Qayyum and his accomplices conducting a reconnaissance of Dr. Siddique’s movements.

In the aftermath of the murder, Qayyum attempted to pose as a concerned son, leading the funeral prayers and demanding justice for the family. However, his involvement in the crime has been revealed through thorough police interrogation and evidence collection.

The investigation is ongoing, and the police have also apprehended Qayyum’s close friend, who is believed to have assisted in the plot.
