In Punjab’s Hafizabad district, Mangat Uncha area, the police encounter killing of three suspects in the gang rape case of a woman in front of her husband has opened the eyes of the fourth suspect’s brother. The brother of the fourth suspect, Ikram, has approached the Lahore High Court.
According to details, Ikram’s brother filed a petition in the Lahore High Court, arguing that there is a risk of Ikram being killed in a police encounter, as Munsab, Fayyaz, and Laiq have already been killed in police encounters. The petitioner requested that the police be ordered to present suspect Ikram before the court.
Earlier, on April 25, the victim woman and her husband were returning home on a motorcycle after meeting relatives when armed suspects stopped them at a deserted location. The suspects abducted the couple and subjected the woman to gang rape near a graveyard in front of her husband, while also recording the video and uploading it online.
On May 3, the police registered a case against eight suspects on charges of abduction, rape, sexual assault, and robbery, arresting several individuals in connection with the case. According to the victim couple, they did not report the incident to the police immediately out of fear that the suspects might kill them.
On June 8, police officials reported that three suspects opened fire on a police van patrolling near Pind Pullah, resulting in one suspect being killed in the exchange of fire while two others fled. The deceased suspect was identified as Khaawar alias Chaand.
DSP Hafizabad, Atif Nazeer, confirmed the incident, stating that Khaawar Ansari, Laiq, and Chaand Mangat had already been killed in encounters, while Ikram Mangat and four unidentified suspects are still at large.
Atif Nazeer stated that raids are being conducted to arrest the suspect who recorded the video of the incident, and the case will be taken to its logical conclusion.
