ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has addressed the issue of blocking the official Twitter accounts of Pakistani embassies in India.
India had recently blocked the Twitter accounts of Pakistani embassies, to which the PTA has now reacted. The PTA has recently raised the issue of blocking the Twitter accounts of Pakistani embassies by India with the management of the social media company and demanded their reinstatement.
The PTA termed India’s move as biased pressure on information and demanded that the Twitter administration reconsider its decision and restore Pakistani accounts to India. On the other hand, the Foreign Ministry has also condemned India’s move to suspend access to the accounts of Pakistani embassies in its country.

It may be recalled that a statement issued by the Foreign Office on Twitter had expressed deep concern over the suspension of information on Indian Twitter users by India by suspending Pakistan’s official Twitter accounts.
The statement said that in India, diversity of opinion and limited scope for access to information is a matter of grave concern, adding that social media platforms should adhere to applicable international norms.
The Pakistani Foreign Ministry had urged Twitter to immediately restore access to these accounts in India and ensure the provision of the democratic right to freedom of expression.
