PSX surges as KSE-100 gains nearly 1,400 points to start the week

Positive momentum pushed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) upward with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining nearly 1,400 points on Monday.

At close, the benchmark index settled at 168,062.19, an increase of 1384.50 or 0.83%.

Buying activity was seen across key sectors such as automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, fertilizer, oil and gas exploration companies, and OMCs. Major index-heavy stocks, including MARI, OGDC, PPL, PSO, SNGPL, WAFI, MCB, MEBL, and NBP, closed in positive territory.

On Friday, PSX extended its winning run with over 1,300-point gain.

At close, the benchmark index settled at 166,677.69, an increase of 1304.38 points or 0.79%.

PSX ended last week on a strong note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index closing at 166,677.70, up 4,574.78 points, or 2.8% week-on-week.

Meanwhile, the Pakistani rupee showed modest gains against the US dollar, appreciating 0.09% during Monday’s opening hours in the inter-bank market. By 10:20 a.m., the local currency was trading at 280.27, up Rs0.25 against the greenback.
