KARACHI: A 50-year-old man, who had been staging a strike outside Karachi Press Club, cut his throat in an attempt to commit suicide, according to the police.
A resident of Karachi’s Agra Taj cut his throat around 2.30 p.m. According to the eyewitnesses, the protesting man threw a wad of Rs 10 before cutting his throat.

Earlier in 2016, a 64-year-old die-hard fan of former Pakistan army chief Raheel Sharif committed suicide by consuming poison, protesting the government’s decision not to give an extension to the just-retired General.
Lutf Amim Shibli, who once served as chairman of the Progressive Workers Union at the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), had begun his protest on November 1 outside Karachi Press Club (KPC), threatening that he would commit suicide if Raheel was not given an extension in service.
