The parties included in the ruling coalition have filed a reference in the Election Commission for the disqualification of Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman and former Prime Minister Imran Khan. According to the media, in the reference filed, action has been demanded against Imran Khan under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution for false statements about party assets.
This case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Mr. Imran Khan regarding party assets and party sources of income is a topic in the national politics of Pakistan that has been debated for a long time. As per election rules, all political parties registered with the Election Commission of Pakistan are required to submit details of their returns, assets, and sources of funding.
On November 14, 2014, PTI founder member Akbar S. Babar filed a case in the Election Commission that the party chairman has made false statements in informing the commission about the details of funding received from abroad. The petition sought action against the party chairman and central officials based on this misrepresentation. After the case was filed, Tehreek-e-Insaf and Mr. Imran Khan did not take this case very seriously and continued to ignore it. However, when the case started to progress, the interest and seriousness of the party also increased and gradually the leadership of Tehreek-e-Insaaf realized that this case could become a noose around their neck.
This case, which has been going on since 2014, has gone through various stages and ups and downs, and finally reached its logical end due to the intense pressure of the opposition ruling alliance. It was believed that this case, like other political cases, would continue to hang as a result of invisible “interference” and the rope would be loosened and tightened as needed. However, two things happened that even if there was an ulterior interest in keeping this case pending, it became difficult to keep it pending. The first reason is Mr. Imran Khan’s continuous aggressive and inflexible politics towards his opponents. The second reason is that the opposition ruling coalition continuously increased the pressure on the Election Commission. These are the factors, due to which it was not possible to keep this case hanging any longer and a controversial and long political case in Pakistan’s politics was decided.
After the decision of the prohibited funding case came out, it was shown that the ruling alliance will take the case forward in the light of this decision, so the ruling alliance has filed a reference for further action against Imran Khan and his party, while PTI is still busy in protesting against the ECP verdict.
All these matters have come before the nation at a time when the country’s economy is facing serious threats of bankruptcy. Political stability is essential for economic stability, unless there is political stability in the country, full attention cannot be paid to the economy and political instability will continue to have negative effects on economic recovery measures. For political stability, it is necessary that all political parties and politicians tolerate each other, and come together to solve controversial issues. After all, what kind of politics is it that no one is ready to tolerate the existence of another? The nation is suffering the consequences of this inflexible hostility of the politicians in the form of the worst economic situation.
All the political parties should keep in mind that the country’s economy has deteriorated to a level that now no party can improve alone and it needs joint efforts of all parties. The result of not tolerating each other and digging pits against each other is coming in the form of continuous economic decline. The most important need for the recovery of the economy requires that all politicians put aside their egos in the larger interest of the nation and keep aside their disputes and differences and come towards cooperation for the recovery of the economy. The existence of the state is in danger due to the worsening economy!
