A suspected criminal was gunned down, and two others were wounded following an alleged encounter near the Baloch Colony Bridge on Shaheed-e-Millat Road in Karachi on Monday.
According to details, police stopped three suspected criminals riding a motorcycle on Shaheed-e-Millat Road during routine checking.
However, the suspects opened fire on the officers and fled the scene. Police pursued them, and after a brief exchange of fire, one suspect was killed while two others were injured.
The deceased and the injured have been identified as Sikandar, Irfan, and Rashid Ali.
Police recovered two pistols and a motorcycle from the suspects. Further investigation is underway.
Earlier, a woman was fatally struck by a stray bullet outside the gynecology ward of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) in Karachi on Saturday, police said.
The victim, identified as Fahmida, a resident of Malir, was walking outside the ward—where her daughter was admitted—when a bullet, fired from an unknown source, hit her in the chest.
