KARACHI: Police have arrested an absconder involved in a wide range of criminal activities including attempted murder and extortion.
District East Police arrested the suspect Muhammad Ayub who is linked to several criminal incidents. On December 7 last year, the suspect was involved in a case of extortion in Bahadurabad.
The suspect along with four other accomplices entered the offices of Crown Builders in Bahadurabad and threatened to pay extortion of Rs5 million. A case was subsequently registered in New Town police station.
The suspect is considered a close aide of Lyari gangwar operation Waseem who is already under custody after being arrested in a joint operation by District East Police and Rangers. Another close aide of the suspect is also under custody.
Police also recovered an illegal pistol and three rounds of ammunition from this possession. According to his criminal records, the suspect is nominated in three cases at Aziz Bhatti police station and another in Kharadar.
Police are looking at the criminal record of the suspect at other police stations and further investigation is underway.
