ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will share a letter from imprisoned former prime minister Nawaz Sharif with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman regarding the decision to join the Azadi March scheduled later this month.

Addressing a press conference after a session of the party meeting to discuss future strategy regarding the march, senior leader Ahsan Iqbal said that the party leaders will take along Nawaz’s letter to present to Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

“Nawaz Sharif has written complete guidelines for the party in the letter,” said Iqbal, adding that the party supremo has asked to run a comprehensive campaign against the government.

He said that PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif had read the contents of the letter during the meeting, which had a complete roadmap for the party. He said that the JUI-F will be taken into confidence in this regard before the party finalises its strategy fot the anti-government march.

He further said that Nawaz Sharif had given support for the march stressing that that PML-N had an important role to play in the face of a sinking economy. He said that Nawaz had agreed with the objectives of the march.

He added that Nawaz Sharif had directed the party to initiate a comprehensive movement to get rid of the government. The party’s leadership had discussed the instructions for the movement during the meeting today.

He also criticised the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan for the handling of the Kashmir issue. He rejected the impression of any rift between party leadership.

A day earlier, Nawaaz Sharif had extended unqualified and complete support to the JUI-F’s anti-government march. However, Imran Khan has said that the option to hold talks with the JUI-F is still wide open.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman earlier said that participants of his march would enter Islamabad on October 31. The party had earlier announced to hold the protest on October 27 and sought permission from local authorities for a gathering near Islamabad’s D-Chowk.
