ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has made minor changes to its scheduled long march to Islamabad which will now depart from Lahore on March 26.
In a new statement issued by PML-N, the long march has been renamed as ‘Mehangai Bachao March’ (Save Inflation March). The decision was made in a meeting chaired by PML-N President and Leader of Opposition in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. The meeting also reviews preparations for the long march.
During the meeting, it was also decided that PML-N leaders Hamza Shahbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz Sharif will lead the long march which will arrive in Islamabad on March 28.
The PML-N statement said that the PML-N will start its march from Model Town, Lahore, to Islamabad on March 26 at 1PM. The marchers will stay in Gujranwala and will reach Rawalpindi on March 27 before reaching Islamabad the next day.
Shehbaz Sharif directed all party organizations to ensure the best arrangements for the long march to fulfill the aspirations of the people. He said the economic disaster, worst inflation, and unemployment have devastated people’s homes and businesses.
He said the long march is decisive step of people’s distrust in government. The meeting was attended by former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Secretary General Ahsan Iqbal and Punjab President Rana Sanaullah.
