MIRPUR: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that the federal government would entirely compensate for the losses suffered by people of Azad Kashmir in the devastating earthquake.
The special assistant said that compensation will be announced for those killed in the earthquake tragedy, while those who suffered losses in the form of damages to their houses and livelihoods will also be compensated.
She described the tragedy of a nation’s loss and said that all the political parties and different segments of society should stand united to heal the wounds of quake victims.
Ms Awan said that the government along with the Azad Kashmir government and the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) would evolve a way forward for relief and rehabilitation of the quake-affected people.
Awan said that at least 24 were killed and 400 others wounded in the incident of the earthquake. 377 people have been discharged after treatment. She assured that the divisional hospital of Mirpur would be provided with all the necessary equipment to treat those wounded in the quake.
