GILGIT: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar on Tuesday arrived in Gilgit Baltistan on a two-day visit.
The prime minister laid a floral wreath at the monument of martyrs at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat. A contingent of GB Scouts presented guard of honour to the prime minister.
The caretaker prime minister was briefed by Chief Secretary Gilgit Baltistan Mohyuddin Ahmen Wani on various matters. He was accompanied by Interior Minister Sarfaraz Bugti and Minister for Information Murtaza Solangi.
PM Kakar will also chair a meeting to review progress on ongoing development schemes and the law and order situation in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The prime minister will hold meetings with the Governor and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. He will also meet the political leadership of Gilgit and Hunza and local notables.
Later, he visited an exhibition of science models by students of local schools and evinced a keen interest in the innovative models made by the students and interacted with them.
The students presented various models depicting power generation from hydel and solar sources to mitigate impact of the climate change.
The prime minister lauded the abilities of the children and said Pakistan had a bright future ahead due to talented youth. He appreciated the knowledge of young girls and boys on environmental issues.
