ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has paid a special tribute to police personnel for their ‘heroic stand’ against protests staged by an outlawed religious party.
Taking to Twitter, the Prime Minister said, “I want to pay special tribute to our police force for their heroic stand against organised violence intended to create chaos to blackmail the government.

“Four policemen were martyred and over 600 injured. Our nation is indebted to these heroes and we will look after the families of the martyrs,” the premier tweeted.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid visited Combined Military Hospital (CMH) and District Headquarters Hospital Rawalpindi to inquire about the health of policemen injured during the clashes.
He said the security personnel bravely tackled the situation and foiled the attempt of the religious party which wanted to create chaos across the country. He, appreciating the security personnel, said they handled the mobs in a professional manner.
A day earlier, the federal government officially banned the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan. Four police officers were martyred and over 600 were injured in clashes all over the country when the members of the proscribed organisation staged protests across the country.
