PM Imran Khan calls for dialogue to address Islamophobia

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has stressed the need for dialogue at the international level to address the issue of Islamophobia.

Chairing a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad, the time minister said Islam preaches respect for all religions. Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi briefed the cabinet about the recent OIC meeting and said all members condemned the Indian atrocities in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The federal cabinet approved the restructuring of the board of directors of six power distribution companies with the aim to improve their efficiency. This includes the distribution companies of Faisalabad, Lahore, Islamabad, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta.

Special Assistant on National Health Services Faisal Sultan briefed the cabinet about the latest COVID-19 situation. The meeting was apprised that the second wave of the pandemic is proving to be more fatal as 89 people died of the virus in a day.

The cabinet was informed that the virus intensity has increased in all the cities of the country. PM Imran Khan said the pandemic poses threat to the lives of the people and there should be no politics on it.

The prime minister said the country’s health infrastructure cannot afford the spread of the contagion. He directed to ensure the adequate supply of oxygen in all the hospitals. The cabinet approved a monthly M.Phil allowance of 2500 rupees for personnel of the armed forces.

Earlier Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Ehsaas Program is pivotal to alleviate poverty and turn Pakistan into a welfare state. He was talking to Special Assistant for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection Dr Sania Nishtar.
The prime minister appreciated the initiatives taken under the umbrella of Ehsaas program. The Special assistant briefed the prime minister regarding payments being made under Kafalat Program and other projects.
