QUETTA: Prime Minister Imran Khan arrived in Quetta on Thursday to assess the coronavirus situation in the province and the steps being taken to contain the spread of the virus.
The prime minister was received by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal on arrival in the city. He was accompanied by federal ministers Asad Umar and Zubaida Jalal.
Prime Minister Imran Khan visited coronavirus quarantine center at Bolan Medical College Hospital Quetta. He was accompanied by Balochistan Chief Minister Jam Kamal, Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Khan Suri and Yar Muhammad Rind.
Chief Secretary Balochistan briefed the prime minister about the current situation and the steps taken by the authorities to stem the spread of the virus in the province.
PM Imran Khan also chaired a meeting in Quetta today to review the coronavirus situation in Balochistan. the Prime Minister was briefed about the steps taken to contain the spread of the virus in the province.
Later, Governor Balochistan Justice retired Amanullah Khan and the provincial Chief Minister Jam Kamal Khan also called on the prime minister in separate meetings.
The prime minister’s visit comes as the number of confirmed cases in the country rose to 4,437 and 65 death. Punjab has been the worst affected province having recorded 2,188 cases, while Balochistan has recorded 213 cases of the virus.
Earlier on April 4, the prime minister arrived in Lahore to assess the situation and visited a 1000-bed field hospital set up at the Expo Centre to facilitate coronavirus patients. He was accompanied by federal ministers Fawad Chaudhry and Shafqat Mehmood along with Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi.
