PM Imran inaugurates Ravi Urban Development Authority project

LAHORE: Prime Minister Imran Khan has inaugurated Ravi Urban Development Authority Project during his official day-long visit to the provincial capital on Friday.
During his visit, PM Imran met Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar after he arrived in Lahore and discussed the matters pertaining to the provincial development with him.
The premier was accompanied by federal ministers Senator Shibli Faraz, Shafqat Mahmood, Hamad Azhar, Adviser Shahzad Akbar, and Naya Pakistan Housing and Development Authority Chairperson Lt Gen (R) Anwar Ali Haider.

As per details, under the project, the Punjab government plans to develop a “most modern city” over an area of more than one 100,000 acres near Lahore.
While talking to a delegation of national assembly members from Faisalabad, PM Khan said the government would extend all-out cooperation to support the industrial and business sectors of the country.
The delegation comprised of Chaudhry Asim Nazir, Nawab Sher Wazir, Raza Nasrullah Ghumman, Khurram Shahzad, Farrukh Habibullah, Faizullah and Raja Riaz Ahmed.
The prime minister told the delegation that incentives to the business and construction sectors would ensure development in the country. The measures were being taken for the welfare of small and medium enterprises, PM Khan added.
The delegation apprised the prime minister of the development works in their respective constituencies.
On this occasion, the prime minister was also expected to chair meetings of the National Coordination Committee on Housing, Construction, and Development, as well as on education reforms in the province.
According to a statement issued by the Punjab government, CM Buzdar had given the green signal to establish “River Ravi Front Authority” to develop a “most modern city” in the north of Lahore.
In this regard, the provincial government would promulgate an ordinance for the establishment of this authority with the chief minister as its chairperson, the statement said. It further added the authority would work to develop the new city over an area of over 100,000 acres.
It is expected that Rs5 trillion would be invested by the private sector to develop the city. The new city would help overcome the problems of congested traffic, water, and the environment in the province.
