ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the provincial governments to finalise the preparations for Expo 2020, which will be held in Dubai.
The Prime Minister expressed his views while chairing a review meeting on preparations regarding Dubai Expo 2020, in Islamabad today (Monday).
He said special focus should be given to projects like Ravi River Project, Central Business District as well as tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Northern Areas, promotion of domestic mineral resources, IT and religious tourism to attract international investment in these sectors.
He also directed the provinces including Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir to highlight all provincial projects, emphasizing that during the Expo, special focus should be given to highlight the abundant investment opportunities in Pakistan.
Chairing another meeting on the progress on establishment of special technology zones in the country, the premier directed to ensure one window operation for the convenience of the business community to avoid inconvenience.
The Prime Minister said the government was providing every facility to the investors and business community regarding special technology zones available in any country of the world.
He said promoting technology in the country, building strong partnerships between educational institutions, the industrial sector and government agencies, and providing a conducive environment for young people to showcase their talents is among top priorities for the government.
The meeting was informed that the purpose of establishing special technology zones in the country is to ensure technology transfer, foreign investment, manpower development, research and development, job creation and increase exports in the field of technology to create import substitutes.
