As Eid-ul-Adha approaches, Muslims around the world are preparing to sacrifice animals according to Islamic teachings. In Pakistan, hundreds of thousands of animals, including cows, bulls, camels, goats, and sheep, are bought and slaughtered on this religious occasion.
In major cities like Karachi, it can be challenging to visit a cattle market and purchase cows or goats at reasonable prices. This practice can be exhausting for people. However, in recent years, a large number of people have been purchasing animals online, making the process easier.
This online practice benefits people in general especially the privileged class who may not have the time to visit the market to select sacrificial animals. Typically, the privileged class relies on online orders for sacrificial animals before Eid-ul-Adha to avoid the hassle of visiting the marketplace and negotiating prices.
Several websites owned by different cattle farm owners offer online purchasing services. These websites provide photos, videos, sounds, and other details of the animals, including weight, teeth, age, price, and name. These details help customers choose their desired animals. While the prices of animals may be slightly higher than those in traditional markets, the difference is often offset by offers of free delivery.
People living abroad also utilize this service, purchasing cattle online and having them delivered to the addresses of their designated relatives. Payments are made through bank cards or mobile banking services.
In addition to animals, some websites also provide services related to the holy sacrifice, including hiring butchers and distributing meat to the less privileged.
Apart from cattle farm owners, individuals also sell goats online in major cities like Karachi on platforms such as OLX.
