SINGAPORE: Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said with the opening of Kartarpur Corridor the message of interfaith harmony and goodwill from Pakistan will spread throughout the world.
The foreign minister was speaking at the opening ceremony of a photo exhibition arranged by the Sikh Community at the main hall of Gurdwara Guru Singh Sabha in Singapore.
The main purpose of this exhibition is to highlight the legacy of Sikhism in Pakistan and Baba Guru Nanak’s journey to Pakistan.
Qureshi said Prime Minister Imran Khan has fulfilled the promise of “Kartarpur Corridor” that was made to the Sikh community last year in a very short time.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is going to make a new history by opening the Kartarpur corridor on Saturday. He added that with this goodwill initiative of Pakistan, the Sikh community will be able to celebrate the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak.
Earlier Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi visited Pakistan’s High Commission in Singapore. High Commissioner Rukhsana Afzaal briefed the foreign minister about bilateral relationship of Pakistan and Singapore and enhancing the trade volume between the both countries.
Expressing satisfaction over bilateral relations of both the countries, Foreign Minister stressed on the need of enhancing trade and there is a need to take steps for promotion of bilateral relations in the fields of technology, construction, industry, agriculture and other multilateral segments.
He directed the High Commission to take steps for solving the issues faced by Pakistanis living in Singapore.
