KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Anti-Corruption Establishment Ikramullah Dharejo has said that prime minister Imran Khan did not take any serious measures to tackle the spread of coronavirus.
While criticizing the federal government, Ikramullah Dharejo said that despite repeated wake calls of Chief Minister Sindh Murad Ali Shah, the prime minister did not take any serious measures to tackle the disease.
According to Dharejo, Imran Khan did not even bother to attend the call of Chief Minister Sindh. Imran Khan’s lethargic attitude had caused the spread of Coronavirus in Pakistan, he added.
He further said that Europe and America were fighting against the coronavirus, Sindh was also doing so, but the federal government had been sleeping for the last month.
He added that Chief Minister Sindh has been trying hard to draw the attention of the federal government towards the serious issue of coronavirus but no heed was paid on the issue and no proper screening of the passengers or pilgrims was conducted at border check posts.
Dharejo further added that the people were expecting relief package and preventive measures from Imran Khan’s speech but it was totally disappointing and a waste of time.
He said that due to poor performance and inefficiency of the government, quarantine cntres at Taftan became a nursery of spreading coronavirus across the country.
Regarding a lockdown of markets, hotels, and offices across Sindh, he said that the government had no choice and if we wanted to save our people we had to take hard measures, adding that sooner or later the federal government had to follow the example of Sindh government in this regard.
Dharejo said that on coronavirus issue even US President Trump made contact with opposition parties but our premier had no time to contact the Sindh government on this alarming issue.
