RIYADH: Houthi forces attempted to target Saudi Arabia’s capital, Riyadh, and the city of Khamis Mushait. However, coalition forces intercepted and destroyed one ballistic missile over Riyadh and two missiles over Khamis Mushait before they could reach their targets.
Falling missile debris damaged a school and a medical complex in Riyadh, but no casualties were reported. Earlier attacks on Riyadh and Abha airports had left three people dead and 28 others injured, including a Pakistani national.
Meanwhile, Yemeni government forces continue operations against the Houthis, with reports of intense fighting in coastal areas along the Red Sea and around the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) condemned the attacks on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport and Abha International Airport. It expressed condolences to the families affected and wished those injured a speedy recovery.
The organisation also reaffirmed its solidarity with Saudi Arabia, voicing support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty, security and efforts to protect its citizens.
