KARACHI: The Pakistani rupee on Thursday continued its gaining streak against the US dollar, appreciating 0.21% in interbank.
At close, the rupee settled at 286.45, an increase of Rs0.59, as per the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
On Wednesday, propelled by the central bank’s decision to allow Exchange Companies (ECs) to import US dollars in cash, the Pakistani rupee ended its eight-session losing streak, appreciating 0.52% to settle at 287.04.
In a key development, China’s EXIM Bank has rolled over principal payments of loans worth $2.4 billion that will be due in the coming two fiscal years, announced Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday.
China’s “EXIM Bank has rolled over for 2 years principal amounts of following loans totalling $2.4 billion which are due in next 2 fiscal years i.e. FY2023-24: $1.2 billion; FY2024-25: $1.2 billion,” said Dar on Twitter.
