ISLAMABAD: Hospital director of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) Dr Khalid Masud has confirmed reports of torture on prominent journalist Arshad Sharif before he was killed in Kenya in October.
Talking to an Urdu website, Dr Khalid Masud said apparently he was tortured, and a team headed by Professor S H Waqar found at least 12 torture marks on the body of Arshad Sharif.

Narrating details, Dr Khalid Masud said “almost 12 torture marks were found on the slain journalist’s body, while four fingernails were removed,”, adding that the case was sensitive.”
Responding to a question, Director PIMS said his institute had not yet received report of the post-mortem conducted in Kenya. “The autopsy report is the right of Arshad Sharif’s family, we will provide it to them,” he added.

He said PIMS had provided the initial autopsy report to the concerned police station as per legal requirement, adding that the final report hadn’t yet finalized.
