Which country saw the highest rise in petrol prices?

File

ISLAMABAD: The government has revised the petroleum levy on major fuel products, increasing the levy on petrol while reducing it on diesel, according to official figures.

The levy on petrol has been increased by Rs 24.74 per litre, raising it from Rs 91.34 to Rs 116.08 per litre. In contrast, the levy on diesel has been reduced by Rs 24.34 per litre, bringing it down to Rs 44.59 per litre.

According to the revised notification, the petroleum levy on kerosene oil has been kept unchanged at Rs 20.36 per litre. The levy on light diesel oil stands at Rs 15.84 per litre, while High Octane Blended Component (HOBC) is subject to a levy of Rs 305.37 per litre.

The revision in petroleum levy reflects adjustments in the government’s fuel taxation structure, which directly impacts overall petroleum pricing and transportation costs across the country.

Earlier, the Pakistan government announced a reduction in petrol prices.

According to the Petroleum Division, the price of petrol has been reduced by PKR 4 per litre, while the price of diesel remains unchanged.

The new price of petrol has been set at PKR 377.78 per litre, whereas diesel will continue to be sold at PKR 380.78 per litre.

The government has been reviewing petroleum prices on a weekly basis since the US-Israeli conflict with Iran on February 28.

The conflict also triggered a global fuel crunch after the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, a key route through which around one-fifth of the world’s oil and gas supplies pass during peacetime.
