ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) directed all the license holder satellite television channels not to mislead public by airing false news or mere speculations.
Sources said that, PEMRA issued certain directives and encourage channel owners to build a committee. This committee should follow the Electronic Media Code of Conduct, 2015.
The directives also included to form an impartial and independent monitoring committee or editorial board as per the guidelines of Code of Conduct 2015.
PEMRA also warned channel owners that the licensee will be held responsible in the case of biased and unfair analysis, added sources.
It is also said in the directives that only the participants with unbiased opinion and requisite knowledge should be invited to speak on the decided topic.
