LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has warned current and former cricketers against participating in the ongoing Asian Legends League in Zambia without prior approval, saying the event has not been sanctioned by either the International Cricket Council (ICC) or the Zambia Cricket Union.
In a statement, the PCB said it had taken notice of reports that some former Pakistani cricketers were participating in the tournament without obtaining the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the board.
The PCB clarified that participation in any overseas cricket event without an NOC would constitute a violation of its regulations and would invite disciplinary action.
Under the board’s policy, any current or former cricketer found participating in the unapproved league without prior permission will be barred from obtaining an NOC for any overseas cricket event for the next two years.
The board further said such individuals would also be declared ineligible for coaching, mentoring and other assignments with the PCB, including roles in the Pakistan Super League (PSL), for the same two-year period.
Reiterating its policy, the PCB directed all current and former cricketers to obtain a mandatory NOC before taking part in cricket leagues, tournaments or other sporting events outside Pakistan.
The board said the measure was aimed at ensuring compliance with its regulations and safeguarding the integrity of Pakistani cricket by preventing participation in tournaments that lack recognition from the relevant governing bodies.
