Pakistan’s economic situation is deteriorating with each passing day. Inflation has risen so much that it is beyond the comprehension of the common man. Neither analysts, nor the opposition, nor anyone else seems to offer solutions to public problems.
The people are disturbed by their compulsion and helplessness. They do not understand whether there will be any ray of hope or not. The journalist or analyst who tells the truth is considered by the government as a representative of enemy and his statements are portrayed negatively.
Wouldn’t it be better for the government to look at the positive side of criticism and focus on correcting its shortcomings? In that case, there would be a possibility of positive change for both the government and the people.
The government officials are surrounded by flattery gangs or business mafia and if they get rid of these people then the international organizations come forward and issue orders which are detrimental to the country.
Inflation arises because wrong decisions or policies are made in the field of economy. An example of this can be taken from oil imports that due to the import burden, petrol prices in Pakistan have never been under control. Today the ministers are calling for reduction in use of petrol. I would like to advise them that less use of petrol is possible only when the people have excellent public transport.
In Britain, USA, China and Japan, transport is equal for all but in Pakistan on the contrary transport sector has been destroyed and rich or poor are forced to arrange transport for themselves. That is why the number of vehicles in Pakistan has been increasing for the last several years and due to this the pollution seems to be increasing every year.
On the other hand, we see that the burden of taxes is being increased on the people. It is better for the government to set up businesses that will generate revenue and control prices. However, creating new government agencies is a long way off, the old ones are either not being managed or they are being sold.
The private sector takes advantage of this situation and receives arbitrary prices for its services from the public. Today, the prices cannot be controlled because mafia has become very strong, and if they close their business, the government has no alternative.
Here again, I would like to say that the government should establish its own institutions in various sectors and strengthen the existing institutions. We have the example of Pakistan Television which dramas were most popular in the world. Today the people in this institution are the same but dramas are not being produced.
The other institution that became popular was PIA, which was also praised by the Queen of Great Britain, but this institution never seemed to change. For a while, it appears to be in profit, but then it becomes a victim of politics.
In short, Pakistan has the solution and our government should seek help from economists to find the solution. A loan is taken from the IMF and then the country’s generations are thrown into debt to pay the interest while we as a nation need to find a solution to our problems with truth and adopt it.
