In a remarkable testament to Pakistani women’s achievements worldwide, 26-year-old Alizey Khan has made history by becoming the first Pakistani woman to be honored with the prestigious Diana Legacy Award. Khan, founder of the Ruhil Foundation, was bestowed with this esteemed award at a ceremony held in the British capital earlier this week.
Presented by William, Prince of Wales, the Diana Legacy Award is the highest accolade for young individuals, recognizing their outstanding social action or humanitarian efforts. Khan stood out among 20 young leaders from around the globe who received this honor.
Named in memory of Princess Diana and her unwavering belief in the potential of young people to effect positive change in society, the Diana Award enjoys the support of members of the British royal family.
The recipients of the legacy award were carefully selected by a distinguished panel chaired by Baroness Doreen Lawrence. They faced the challenging task of choosing 20 individuals from a pool of nominees already recognized for their impactful contributions to society with The Diana Award in 2022 or 2023.
Alizey Khan’s work with the Ruhil Foundation focuses on combating food insecurity by providing ration bags and meals to those in need. Additionally, she conducts hygiene drives in underdeveloped areas, supports education initiatives for children of sex workers, and raises funds for orphanages in Lahore, the capital of Punjab.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Khan played a pivotal role in distributing ration bags to individuals affected by floods in Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan. Her dedication to humanitarian causes has earned her well-deserved recognition on the global stage.
