In preparation for the T20 World Cup, the first T20 International of the three-match series between Pakistan and Australia will be played today at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
The Australian team arrived in Lahore on Wednesday morning. Following the visitors’ arrival, captains Salman Ali Agha and Mitchell Marsh unveiled the series trophy.
During the press conference on this occasion, Salman Ali Agha stated that every player is aware of their role and that it is essential to play according to the team’s needs and the required run rate.
He mentioned that efforts have been made to prepare pitches similar to those in Sri Lanka, adding that if the players perform to their potential, they can win the series.
Australian captain Mitchell Marsh remarked that Shaheen Afridi is a good bowler who poses a challenge for them, predicting a good series. Regarding his own participation, he said he would make a decision tonight or tomorrow.
He further noted that they have a plan to try and attack the spinners. While the conditions will be challenging, he highlighted that most of their World Cup squad players are present.
Pakistan is focusing on spin-friendly pitches, while Australia aims to counter with an aggressive approach against spin.
