ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and the United Kingdom have agreed to work closely for containment of coronavirus pandemic.
The decision came during a telephonic conversation between Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and British counterpart Dominc Raab today (Saturday).
According to details, both personalities exchanged views on the outbreak of coronavirus and prospects of enhanced bilateral cooperation to jointly tackle the pandemic.
In this regard, FM Qureshi conveyed his good wishes for early recovery of Prince Charles and British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had also been tested positive for Covid-19 disease yesterday.
FM Qureshi assured his counterpart that the British nationals residing in Pakistan were being taken care of; adding that the nationals would return after the situation becomes normal.
The foreign minister also praised the steps being taken by the UK authorities against the novel coronavirus. He also thanked British authorities for taking care of the Pakistani community.
FM Qureshi also highlighted the current situation in Indian occupied Kashmir and said that due to the lockdown for the last eight months, the territory had been facing shortage of food and medical supplies.
The British counterpart thanked FM Qureshi for the call and his expression of solidarity. He also concurred that enhanced global cooperation was key to combat COVID-19.
