Pakistan booked their place in the semi-finals of the Men’s U18 Asia Cup with a convincing 5-2 victory over Bangladesh in their final group-stage match in Kakamigahara, Japan.
Abdullah Awan starred for Pakistan with two goals, while Haider Isam, Muhammad Yahya, and Adeel also found the net in a crucial win that secured the team’s progression to the last four.
Pakistan made a bright start and took the lead through a field goal in the opening quarter. However, Bangladesh responded quickly as Munna Islam converted a penalty corner in the 12th minute to level the score at 1-1.
After a goalless second quarter, Pakistan regained the advantage with a field goal in the 32nd minute. Bangladesh once again fought back, with Munna scoring his second goal from a penalty corner in the 35th minute.
Pakistan then took control of the contest. A successful penalty stroke in the 39th minute restored their lead before another field goal in the 44th minute extended the margin to 4-2. The Green Shirts sealed the victory with a fifth goal in the 59th minute.
Pakistan began their campaign with a 4-2 win over Malaysia before suffering a narrow 3-2 defeat to China. The victory over Bangladesh ensured their qualification for the semi-finals of the continental tournament.
