LAHORE: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Pakistan has surged to 110,851 in Pakistan today, while the death toll stands at 2,255.
According to the National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 5,385 cases of coronavirus were reported while 83 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours.
As many as 36,308 patients have recovered from the disease, while the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in the COVID-19 cases. As per details, 21 percent of the cases have foreign travel history while 79 percent of the cases are reported to be locally transmitted.
There have been 40,815 cases so far been detected in Punjab, 41,303 in Sindh, 14,527 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 7,031 in Balochistan, 5,785 in Islamabad, 974 in Gilgit Baltistan and 412 in Azad Kashmir.
Out of a total of 2,216 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 610 deaths, Sindh 696, Balochistan 62, Gilgit-Baltistan 14, Punjab 773, Azad Kashmir 09 and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 52 deaths.
Moreover, the World Health Organisation (WHO) has suggested Pakistan observe a complete lockdown every two weeks for fourteen days due to surging COVID-19 cases.
The WHO has listed Pakistan among the top ten countries in the world in terms of a spike in coronavirus cases. In a letter written to the country, the organization has urged the nation to observe a complete lockdown in view of rising coronavirus patients and deaths.
