Pakistan reports decline in coronavirus cases

KARACHI: The coronavirus cases in Pakistan are now above 252,000, while the number of casualties has passed 5,400.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 252,039 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 5,426. According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) latest figures, 2,145 new cases were detected after 24,262 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours.
The total number of infections in Punjab stands at 88,045, Sindh 107,773, 31,000 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 12,239 in Balochistan, 14,315 in Islamabad, 1,688 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1,708 in Gilgit Baltistan.
Out of a total of 5,426 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,120 deaths, Sindh 1,888, Balochistan 127, Gilgit-Baltistan 38, Punjab 2,051, Azad Kashmir 46, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 156 deaths.

The recoveries in Punjab stand at 64,247, Sindh 70,292, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 22,260, Islamabad 11,486, Balochistan 8,002, Gilgit-Baltistan 1,389, and Azad Jammu Kashmir 1,061.
However, the country is still witnessing a consistent rise in COVID-19 cases. Islamabad has imposed locality-based lockdowns in scores of hotspots in some 20 cities to curb the spread of the virus.
Moreover, the smart-lockdown imposed across Sindh was extended till 15th July, following its Punjab and Balochistan counterparts as the number of coronavirus cases shoot up in the country.
