ISLAMABAD: The number of coronavirus cases have spiked across the country amid the second wave of COVID-19 infections raising concerns of another lockdown.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), 2,304 new cases of COVID-19 and 37 more deaths were recorded across the country during the last 24 hours.
The total number of cases since the infection emerged earlier this year has surpassed the grim 350,000 milestone. The total count of infections stands at 352,296 while 1,219 patients are in critical condition.The death reached up to 7,092 in Pakistan whereas the number of active cases of COVID-19 reached up to 23,641.
Over 36,923 tests were conducted during the last 24 hours as the positivity rate continues to rise. 714 more patients recovered from the virus, whereas the total number of recoveries stands at 321,563 patients.
Yesterday, Pakistan recorded another single-day highest tally in three months after 1,808 cases were detected in a day, with at least 34 people also losing their lives.
The new cases took the country’s tally for confirmed cases to 349,992, and the death toll to 7,055. The new cases were recorded against a total of 36,686 cases conducted in a day. Around 784 people also recovered from the virus, taking the number of total recoveries to 320,849.
