KARACHI: The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 259,998 in Pakistan, while the death toll stands at 5,475.
The coronavirus cases in Pakistan are now above 183,000. Several patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 183,737.
More than 2,085 cases of coronavirus were reported while 49 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours. The number of active cases in-country is above 70,000. As per NCOC, around 23,907 tests were conducted in past one day taking the total number to 167,090.

The total number of infections in Punjab stands at 89,023, Sindh 110,068, 31,486 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,385 in Balochistan, 14,454 in Islamabad, 1,808 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1,775 in Gilgit Baltistan.
Out of a total of 5,475 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,124 deaths, Sindh 2,059, Balochistan 128, Gilgit-Baltistan 39, Punjab 2,059, Azad Kashmir 46, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 157 deaths.
The recoveries in Punjab stand at 64,815, Sindh 70,292, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 22,613, Islamabad 11,599, Balochistan 8,161, Gilgit-Baltistan 1,396, and Azad Jammu Kashmir 1,077.
Novel coronavirus cases in the country have continued to decline in the past two weeks, a development the government of Prime Minister Imran Khan dubbed as the result of its successful anti-COVID-19 strategy.
However, health experts are dubious about the government’s claim, warning it is too early to declare victory against the virus that has already infected more than 250,000 people across the country.
