KARACHI: The coronavirus cases in Pakistan are now above 270,400, while the number of casualties has passed 5,700.
The number of confirmed coronavirus cases has surged to 269,191 in the country. According to National Command and Control Center (NCOC), more than 1,209 cases of coronavirus were reported while 54 people succumbed to the disease in the last 24 hours, taking the total death toll to 5,763.
The total recoveries are now above 219,000 as several patients have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours taking the total number of recoveries to 219,783. More than 600 tests were conducted in the past day.
The total number of infections in Punjab stands at 91,432, Sindh 115,883, 32,898 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,023 in Balochistan, 14,066 in Islamabad, 1,989 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and 1,918 in Gilgit Baltistan.
Out of a total of 5,763 deaths, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has reported 1,158 deaths, Sindh 2,060, Punjab 2,100, Balochistan 136, Gilgit-Baltistan 45, Azad Kashmir 48, and Islamabad Capital Territory has reported 162 deaths.
