ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday assured the government of Azerbaijan of its support for rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the newly liberated territories of the country.
Azerbaijan Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, who arrived in Islamabad on Wednesday on a two-day official visit, called on Prime Minister Imran in Islamabad. During the meeting, views were exchanged on matters relating to bilateral relations and regional and international issues.
The premier expressed satisfaction over the cordial ties between the two countries and emphasised the importance of enhancing bilateral trade and energy cooperation.
PM Imran also extended sincere felicitations on Azerbaijan’s recent success in liberation of its occupied territories from Armenian forces in Nagorno-Karabakh region. On Azerbaijan’s call for support in reconstruction and development of liberated territories, the prime minister assured of all possible assistance from Pakistan.
On the occasion, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister conveyed cordial greetings of President Ilhan Aliyev to PM Imran. He also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and reaffirmed Azerbaijan’s consistent support and solidarity on the Kashmir dispute.
A day earlier, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held delegation-level talks with his Azeri counterpart and discussed bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues.
