The Scranton boys are back in town as The Office costars Steve Carell and John Krasinski have reunited for the first time in years for a movie ‘IF’.
The Quiet Place filmmaker wrote on social media, “[Carell] happens to be a dear friend,” Krasinski says in the video. “We actually worked together on this little thing a long time ago.”
The video cuts to footage of Krasinski and Carell embracing in a recording studio. “So good to see you,” Krasinski says. “Oh my Lord,” Carell responds. “I was just telling you guys — has it been years?” Krasinski asks. “I’m glad we’re getting it,” Carell jokes as he points to the camera capturing their reunion. “This is so intimate.”
“I just love that this is the fifth take and you did great on this,” Krasinski jokes back as Carell rushes back to the door for a do-over of their greeting. “So anyway, I haven’t seen Steve in geez, it’s gotta be —.” The filmmaker takes a sip of water as Carell bursts back into the room and shouts, “Oh my gosh!” causing Krasinski to do an exaggerated spit take for the camera. “You look very nice, by the way,” Krasinski comments. “You do too. Anyway…” Carell responds.
IF explores a world where children’s imaginary friends (or IFs, for short) are real. In the film, Carell plays the main IF named Blue — not to be confused with Bloo, the primary imaginary friend on Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, which explores a similar concept.
