ISLAMABAD: Zahir Jaffer has filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) in the Noor Mukadam case after the trial court had sentenced him to death.
According to the details, after the trial court had sentenced him to death as well as 25 years imprisonment with hard labour and fine. The main accused has requested the Islamabad High Court of quashing his imprisonment.
On the other hand, the father of slain Noor Mukadam and former ambassador Shaukat Muqaddam, through Advocate Shah Khawar, filed an appeal against the acquittal of nine accused. Justice Amir Farooq and JuJustice Sardar Ejaz Ishaq heard the petitioner’s position in the Islamabad High Court.
The High Court has sought the record of the trial court. Justice Amir Farooq remarked that the trial court has to take a decision on the Noor Mukadam case. It should be noted that the trial court had acquitted nine accused including the parents of the main accused.

Last month, on February 24, Additional Sessions Judge Atta Rabbani of Rawalpindi, while delivering a short verdict in the Noor Muqaddam murder case, reserved for February 22, sentenced Zahir Jaffer to death and two co-accused to ten years imprisonment.
The trial court acquitted the accused Jaffer’s parents Zakir Jaffer and Ismat Adam besides all the employees of the therapy works. It should be noted that 12 accused including accused Zahir Jaffer were indicted on October 14 last year.
